Pilates equipment
Pilates equipment varies because those who do Pilates
differ as well. Different people like to do Pilates in different ways.
By making available a lot of different types of equipment, there should
be something available for everyone.
Some of the types of Pilates equipment include:
• Mats – Many people who are looking for
Pilates equipment start off with purchasing a mat. The mat is beneficial
because it allows those who are doing Pilates to be comfortable and
avoid injury.
• DVDs – Pilates DVDs are good additions
to most Pilates collections, especially for beginners. Many beginners
find these DVDs to be able to help them figure out their own routines
as they begin to do Pilates. There are advanced DVDs for those who are
more comfortable with Pilates as well.
• Balls and bands – When traditionalists
think of Pilates equipment, it is rare that they think or bands or balls.
These are not pieces of equipment Joseph Pilates had in mind when he
first began the Pilates revolution, but in recent years they have become
more popular for home and studio workouts.
• Rings – These rings are sometimes also
known as magic circles. These pieces of Pilates equipment are kind of
limited in what they can do, but there are certainly some special exercises
that can be done that feature these rings. They are generally used to
help promote strength and flexibility in the user’s arms, but
some motivated Pilates exercisers have found different ways to use them.
Just as is true with the equipment for many different types of exercises,
Pilates equipment has evolved quite a bit in the last few years. Some
people who do Pilates have welcomed the changes in equipment, while
others have shunned it.
